Congress has ignited a major political controversy after posting an AI-generated video on X that portrays a dream-like conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi. The 36-second clip, explicitly marked “AI GENERATED,” has gone viral, with the BJP calling it a personal and calculated attack in the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.
Captioned “Maa appears in sahab’s dreams,” the video has deepened tensions in an already charged political atmosphere. BJP leaders have condemned the move, demanding an apology and strict action against those responsible.
BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal strongly criticized the video, saying, “Prime Minister Modi has always kept politics separate from family life. It is painful that the Congress first abused the prime minister’s mother and is now using deepfake technology to mislead the country and insult all mothers.” He further stated that he would raise the issue with the Election Commission.

Echoing the criticism, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla lashed out on X, claiming the Congress had “crossed all limits.” He posted, “Far from remorse for abusing PM’s mother, Congress justified and defended the accused with lies. This party has become ‘Gaaliwadi’ instead of Gandhiwadi.”
This is not the first time PM Modi’s mother has been dragged into Bihar’s political slugfest. On August 27 in Darbhanga, during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ organized by Congress and RJD, abusive slogans allegedly targeting PM Modi and his late mother were raised from the stage. Reacting sharply, Modi called the incident “unimaginable” and “an insult to all mothers, sisters and daughters of the country,” while stressing that his mother had “nothing to do with politics.”
Following that episode, the NDA women’s wing staged a five-hour bandh in Bihar, terming the remarks an attack on women’s dignity.
