Maharashtra was plunged into shock on Wednesday after aviation authorities confirmed that a charter aircraft travelling from Mumbai to Baramati crashed during landing, resulting in the death of everyone on board. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was among the passengers travelling in the ill-fated aircraft.

According to the DGCA, the aircraft attempted to land in Baramati at approximately 8:45 am when the accident occurred. The plane reportedly crash-landed under circumstances that are still being examined, leaving no survivors.
Officials said the charter flight was carrying five individuals, including Ajit Pawar, two members of his personal staff — a Personal Security Officer (PSO) and an attendant — along with two flight crew members, comprising the Pilot-in-Command and the First Officer. All five occupants were declared dead at the crash site, the aviation regulator confirmed.
Emergency response teams rushed to the location soon after the incident was reported. However, the intensity of the crash and subsequent damage to the aircraft made rescue efforts impossible. Visuals from the site showed extensive destruction, indicating the severity of the impact.
