In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing aviation chaos, all IndiGo departures from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were suspended until 3 PM on Friday, according to airport operator GMR Delhi, as reported by ANI. The emergency measure comes amid an unprecedented wave of mass cancellations, severe crew shortages, technical constraints, and mounting passenger frustration over the last three days.
The abrupt grounding marks one of the most significant disruptions in the airline’s history, affecting thousands of travellers across the country. For three consecutive days, IndiGo—India’s largest carrier—has been battling persistent operational setbacks, leading to hundreds of cancellations and widespread delays at major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
