On Thursday, June 13, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its list of candidates for the upcoming by-elections to the Legislative Assembly in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, slated for July 10.

Himachal Pradesh:

  • Dehra: Hoshiyar Singh Chambyal
  • Hamripur: Ashish Sharma
  • Nalagarh: Krishan Lal Thakur

Uttarakhand:

  • Badrinath: Rajendra Singh Bhandari
  • Manglaur: Kartar Singh Bhadana

Madhya Pradesh:

  • Amarwara (ST): Kamlesh Shah

Kamlesh Shah, a three-time MLA from Amarwara and a former member of the Congress party, recently joined the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections. His switch prompted the Election Commission to declare the Amarwara seat vacant and call for a by-election.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for by-elections across 13 Assembly constituencies in several states including Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

The constituencies going for bypolls include:

  • West Bengal: Rupauli, Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, Maniktala
  • Tamil Nadu: Vikravandi
  • Madhya Pradesh: Amarwara
  • Uttarakhand: Badrinath, Manglaur
  • Punjab: Jalandhar West
  • Himachal Pradesh: Dehra, Hamirpur, Nalagarh

According to the ECI statement, the notification for elections will be issued on June 14, with the deadline for filing nomination papers set for June 21. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 24, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 26. Polling across all constituencies will be conducted on July 10, with vote counting scheduled for July 13.
