The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its push for renaming historical locations in Delhi, with MLA Anil Sharma vowing to get Mohammadpur village in RK Puram renamed as ‘Madhavpuram’.

Sharma claimed that the renaming proposal had been pending in the Delhi Assembly for a long time, allegedly ignored by the previous AAP government. "Now that Delhi has a people's government, we will fulfill this demand. I will raise this issue at the earliest," he asserted.

This demand is part of a broader effort by BJP leaders to restore "cultural and historical significance" to places in the capital. BJP MLA Neelam Pehelwan has also submitted a proposal to rename Najafgarh as ‘Nahargarh’, arguing that the area was historically oppressed under Mughal rule and played a crucial role in the 1857 War of Independence, led by Raja Nahar Singh.

Pehelwan emphasized that the renaming would be a tribute to the region's warrior legacy, stating, "The people of Najafgarh have suffered great oppression, and this change is long overdue."
