Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Thursday sharply criticized the BJP’s state leadership, calling out the party for its “lack of confidence and direction” during ongoing political activities. Speaking about BJP’s plan to organise public conventions in protest against the state government, Kharge said the efforts, including the much-publicized “Padyatra,” collapsed even before they could gain momentum.
He added, “What is glaringly visible is the lack of leadership in the BJP. What started out as a ‘Padyatra’ fizzled out before it even began. It shows that the BJP leaders do not have confidence in their state leadership. Their lack of leadership is presented even in the assembly, where half of them fall into the well and the other half stage a walkout… It’s more of a personal fight rather than a fight for the people.”
Kharge also addressed speculation around the visit of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar to Delhi. Responding to rumours about his meetings with national leaders, Kharge said, “He has gone on official work… The problem is you’re reading in between the lines. If he does not meet Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, who else will he meet? Mohan Bhagwat?”
