Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw of the Border Security Force (BSF), who had inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory during operational duty last month, was safely repatriated to India on Tuesday morning.
The BSF confirmed that Shaw was handed over by the Pakistan Rangers at the Attari-Wagah border at 10:30 am on May 14. The exchange followed a series of diplomatic and military-level communications between the two sides.
In an official statement, the BSF said, “Today at 1030 hrs, Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw has been taken back from Pakistan by BSF at Attari - Wagah border. Constable Shaw had inadvertently crossed over to Pakistan territory, while on operational duty in the area of Ferozepur sector on 23rd April 2025 around 1150 hrs and was detained by Pak Rangers.”
