Clear Skies Return to Mumbai as Humidity Persists; AQI at 'Satisfactory' Level

na

After a brief spell of cloudy relief, Mumbai’s skies have cleared up again, bringing back the harsh sun and sticky humidity that the city knows all too well. While the overcast skies since yesterday gave Mumbaikars a break from the blazing heat, today marks a return to typical summer conditions with no weather alerts in place.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will experience predominantly clear skies throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to hover between 25°C and 33°C, and the humidity will remain high, contributing to overall discomfort for residents. However, no heatwave alert has been issued for the city as of now. The sunset is expected around 6:55 PM today.

While the weather might be oppressive, the air quality has offered a silver lining. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has recorded Mumbai’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 61, which falls under the ‘Satisfactory’ category.

For reference, the AQI scale is defined as:

0–50: Good

51–100: Satisfactory

101–200: Moderate

201–300: Poor

301–400: Very Poor

401–500: Severe

Though the air is relatively clean, the CPCB has advised individuals, particularly those with respiratory issues, to limit outdoor activities and wear masks when venturing out during peak hours.
