Investigations into the Delhi car blast on November 10 have uncovered startling details about the suspected suicide bomber, Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi. Sources revealed that Dr Nabi, in a state of panic, drove a white Hyundai i20 from the Al-Falah Medical College campus in Faridabad, Haryana, where the vehicle had been parked for nearly 11 days, NDTV reported.
The explosion occurred at 6:52 pm outside gate number 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. According to reports, Dr Nabi had acquired the car from a Faridabad dealer on October 29 and completed pollution testing on the same day to obtain a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. CCTV footage from the PUC centre, released after the blast, shows the vehicle during this process.
Authorities say Dr Nabi had initially parked the car on the college campus, alongside Dr Mujammil Shakeel’s Swift Dzire. Dr Shakeel was arrested in connection with a large haul of explosives, while his vehicle was registered under Dr Shaheen Saeed. Dr Saeed’s car had previously been linked to the recovery of assault rifles and ammunition in Lucknow.
Following the arrests of Dr Shakeel and Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr Nabi reportedly drove the Hyundai i20 out of the campus. Police, using CCTV footage, tracked the vehicle’s route, which showed it leaving Faridabad around 11 hours before the explosion. ANI reported that the car was first spotted outside Asian Hospital, Faridabad, at approximately 7:30 am on the day of the blast.
