The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is underway, with early trends showing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading on two key seats. As per the Election Commission of India, BJP’s Om Prakash Sharma is ahead in Vishwas Nagar with a margin of 1,741 votes, while Sanjay Goyal is leading from Shahdara by 506 votes.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in power for the last ten years, is looking for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is pushing for a comeback after more than two decades. With both parties engaged in a fierce battle, the final outcome remains uncertain.

Polling for all 70 Assembly seats took place on February 5, with a total voter turnout of 60.54 percent. Alongside the Delhi elections, counting is also underway for by-elections in Uttar Pradesh’s Milkipur and Tamil Nadu’s Erode seats. Security arrangements have been tightened across all counting centers to ensure smooth operations.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate from the New Delhi constituency, Sandeep Dikshit, responded to speculations about a possible post-poll alliance with AAP. "I have no idea about the alliance. It is the decision of the high command. Let the counting of votes happen first," he told ANI.

With counting progressing rapidly, all eyes are on whether AAP will retain power or if BJP will mark a significant comeback in the national capital. The final results are expected to be announced by the evening.
