Delhi Police Halts Screening Of Documentary on Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Alleges Political Interference

Delhi Police halted the screening of a documentary about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal today, prompting allegations of political interference from the party. AAP claimed that the event was disrupted because police did not grant prior permission for the screening, which was scheduled to take place at Pyarelal Bhawan around noon.

The documentary, titled Unbreakable, focuses on the AAP’s activities during Kejriwal’s imprisonment and the developments after his release. It is believed to shed light on internal party matters and political challenges faced during that period.

In response, Delhi Police clarified that no permission had been sought for the screening through the appropriate channels. As per election guidelines, political parties must submit a request through the single window system at the District Election Office (DEO) during the election period. Authorities explained that the event lacked the necessary approval and thus violated electoral regulations.

Kejriwal, addressing the media, strongly criticized the halt and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to suppress the documentary. He posted on social media, saying, “Why is BJP scared of this film? What is it hiding? This film reveals the illegal and unconstitutional actions of the BJP government during the wrongful imprisonment of AAP leaders.”

While the AAP leader contended that the event was not an election campaign and had no political elements, the police maintained that all public events related to elections must adhere to the prescribed process to ensure fairness and transparency.
