The exit poll results for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are out, and surveys by several pollsters predict the return of the Narendra Modi government for a third consecutive term. These surveys provide early predictions for this year?s general election outcomes before the official results, which will be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, June 4.
BJP Leaders Celebrate Poll Predictions
BJP leaders expressed enthusiasm and confidence in the exit poll predictions:
Tejasvi Surya: "Almost all exit polls are predicting a massive victory for the Narendra Modi-led BJP and the NDA. This is in line with the ?abki baar 400 paar? vision of the PM. The last 10 years have been truly transformative for the country. Under the PM?s leadership, the country has become more prosperous, we have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty and the country is more secure,? stated BJP leader Tejasvi Surya.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan: ?The BJP, along with the NDA, will cross the 400-seat mark. The BJP alone will win 370 seats. The trust for PM Modi in the nation is unparalleled,? said former Madhya Pradesh CM and senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Bhajanlal Sharma: "The people of our country can see the rising stature of India in the world... People have faith in the Prime Minister... BJP is coming back with a huge majority... We are winning all 25 seats in Rajasthan,? stated Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
Vijay Rupani: ?The slogan of ?400 paar? was our goal... It was our confidence... The Congress already knows so they boycotted the Exit Polls. They don?t believe in the Exit polls and after the results, they will not believe in the EVM also... The BJP will do a hattrick in Gujarat and win all 26 seats,? said Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
INDIA Bloc Leaders Dismiss Exit Polls
Leaders from the INDIA alliance criticized the exit poll predictions, calling them unscientific and biased:
Shashi Tharoor: ?We are very happy to wait and see what the votes actually tell us. Exit polls are deeply unscientific and we all know this. Last year, the majority of exit polls got the results wrong in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan,? commented Congress Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.
Somnath Bharti: Three-time AAP MLA Somnath Bharti challenged the results, asserting that he will shave off his hair if Modi becomes Prime Minister for a third time. ?All exit polls will be proven wrong on 4th June and Modi ji will not become prime minister for the third time. In Delhi, all seven seats will go to the India ALLIANCE,? Bharti wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Supriya Shrinate: Congress leader Supriya Shrinate dismissed the exit poll surveys as ?Narendra Modi?s exit polls.? She stated, ?The exit poll from the public gives 295 seats to INDIA, and this number will only increase.?
Akhilesh Yadav: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav rejected the exit poll findings, stating that news channels are trying to curry favor with those in power by showing inflated numbers in exit polls to pressure officials.
Jairam Ramesh: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote on X, ?The man whose exit is certain on June 4th has had these exit polls orchestrated. The INDIA Janbandhan will definitely get a minimum of 295 seats, which is a clear and decisive majority. These are all psychological games he is masterminding but the ACTUAL results will be very different.?
Harish Singh Rawat: Former Uttarakhand CM and senior Congress leader Harish Singh Rawat commented, ?As per our assessment, we, along with the TMC, will win around 300 seats and the INDIA alliance will form the government. I feel that the exit polls are based on pre-poll surveys conducted by the (media) organizations. There has been a huge change in the mindset of the public over the past 2.5 months and people want a change now.?
Hannan Mollah: CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah remarked, ?Positive results are coming from different parts of the country against the Narendra Modi government. From today onwards, supporters of Modi will form a group and continue to campaign in the name of exit polls to dishearten the other camp. It is a calculated conspiracy.?
Champai Soren: Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren said, ?We have analyzed the reports from every state (during the INDIA alliance meeting today). The INDIA alliance will surely win more than 295 seats and there is no doubt about that.?
