In a stunning revelation, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Goa minister Pandurang Madkaikar has accused his own party’s government of rampant corruption, alleging that a minister forced him to pay a bribe of ₹15-20 lakh for clearing a routine file. His accusations have sparked a major political storm, with the opposition demanding an immediate investigation.

“Nothing is moving. They are only busy counting money. All ministers are busy counting money. Nothing is happening in Goa,” Madkaikar said on Wednesday, exposing what he claims to be deep-rooted corruption in the state government.

Madkaikar, who served as a minister in the BJP-led government from 2017 to 2019, said he recently paid the hefty bribe but refused to name the minister involved. “He took my file home and left a message that if someone comes to collect it, they must first meet him,” Madkaikar claimed, adding that his manager was later directed to meet the minister’s assistant, who then demanded ₹15-20 lakh for the clearance. “The money was paid last week. It was a routine work,” he revealed.

He further alleged that corruption has reached unprecedented levels in Goa, stating, “Every minister is busy making money. People are waiting to send them home. At least 50% of the lawmakers will lose in the next election.”

Opposition leaders have seized on the explosive claims, calling for an immediate probe. Goa Forward Party’s Vijai Sardesai said that if the police or the Anti-Corruption Bureau fail to act, it would send a dangerous message that corruption has been fully normalized in Goa. “The BJP’s mantra is to silence the opposition and continue the loot. They are not afraid even of God,” he remarked.

Congress leader Yuri Alemao also slammed the government, demanding that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant respond to these serious allegations. “This is not new in the BJP. Who is this minister taking bribes? Madkaikar must name him and file a police complaint. This cannot be ignored anymore.”

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho defended the government, hitting back at Madkaikar. “People in glass houses should not throw stones,” he said, implying that Madkaikar himself had a questionable past.
