Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has triggered a fresh political controversy by accusing Humayun Kabir of working on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party and attempting to influence electoral politics in West Bengal.
Speaking to the media, Raut claimed that the BJP was preparing to enter upcoming elections in the state by using Kabir as a political conduit. He alleged that Kabir, who has been linked to sensitive and controversial issues in Bengal in the past, was now being positioned to serve the BJP’s electoral strategy.
Raut went a step further by cautioning political workers and leaders in West Bengal, describing Kabir’s alleged role as a “betrayal” of local political interests. He urged them to remain alert and not fall into what he termed a deliberate political trap being laid ahead of future polls.
Without naming specific parties in Bengal, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader suggested that outside forces were attempting to destabilise the state’s political landscape by exploiting internal divisions and controversial figures. According to Raut, such tactics were part of a broader plan to gain a foothold in Bengal politics.
The BJP has not yet responded to Raut’s allegations. Meanwhile, the remarks have added fuel to ongoing political sparring between opposition parties as they gear up for high-stakes electoral battles in multiple states.
