Abhey Singh, popularly known as IIT Baba, has been detained in Rajasthan’s Jaipur for allegedly possessing ganja (marijuana), media reports claimed on Monday. The self-styled spiritual figure, who shot to fame during Maha Kumbh 2025, was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to reports, a team from Shipra Path Police Station reached Classic Hotel near Riddhi Siddhi Park and took IIT Baba into custody. His detention has triggered shockwaves among his followers, who had been closely following his rise as a spiritual influencer.
This development comes just days after IIT Baba alleged that he was assaulted at the newsroom of a private TV channel in Noida. He had gone to participate in a debate but later claimed in an Instagram LIVE session that he was physically mistreated. Following the alleged assault, he staged a sit-in protest outside a Noida police station, but later withdrew after police intervention.
IIT Baba’s life has been a rollercoaster of controversies and spirituality. His journey, marked by childhood trauma and personal struggles, has captivated many. While his family continues to hope for reconciliation, his recent arrest has added another twist to his already dramatic saga.
