Justice Surya Kant formally assumed charge as the 53rd Chief Justice of India on Monday, marking a significant transition at the helm of the judiciary. The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The event witnessed the presence of several top constitutional office-bearers and government leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior dignitaries were among those who attended the ceremony to extend their wishes to the newly appointed Chief Justice.
