'Mat Bhed Ho Sakta Hai, Mann Bhed Nahi': RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Rejects Rift With BJP

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday firmly dismissed speculation of differences between the Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stressing that both organisations share the same vision for the nation.

Speaking at a public interaction, Bhagwat clarified that while the Sangh can offer suggestions, the final authority rests with the BJP. “Humare yahan mat bhed ho sakta hai par mann bhed nahi hai… Does RSS decide everything? This is completely wrong. This cannot happen at all. I have been running the Sangh for many years, and they are running the government. Therefore, we can only give advice, not make a decision,” he said.

He underlined that good coordination exists with both central and state governments. “We are having good coordination with every government. But there are systems with internal contradictions, many of which are colonial in origin. Even if the person in the chair is fully committed, hurdles do arise. We must give him that independence. There is no quarrel anywhere,” Bhagwat remarked.

Addressing rumours of internal friction, Bhagwat maintained: “All these things create an appearance of quarrel. There might be a struggle, but there is no quarrel. The goal is the same – the good of our country.”

On the delay in appointing a new BJP president, Bhagwat took a neutral position: “Take your time, we do not have to say anything. We help everyone, not just BJP, if they need our assistance in doing good work.”

The RSS chief also rejected claims that the organisation stayed silent during Partition. “It is wrong information that RSS did not protest against Partition. Sangh had opposed it, but what power did we have at that time? Akhand Bharat is a truth,” he said.

Turning to the sensitive issue of population policy, Bhagwat suggested a minimum family size to maintain demographic balance. “India’s policy indicates 2.1 children, which means three children in a family. Every citizen should see that there should be three children in his/her family,” he added.
