In a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior BJP leader and Delhi Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday accused the party of enabling backroom deals to benefit private schools over the last decade. He also alleged that AAP leaders continue their trend of making baseless accusations and then evading accountability.
“Over the past ten years, private schools were given a free hand through under-the-table deals. I named specific schools and showed how they were continuously favored,” Sood said in a press interaction. “This is an old strategy of Aam Aadmi Party — make allegations and then run away,” he added.
Taking aim at AAP’s leadership, Sood remarked, “The unemployed leaders of Aam Aadmi Party should understand — this is how battles are fought: by working hard and with facts.”
The remarks come amid a broader political spat between the BJP and AAP over educational policies in the capital. BJP leaders have been alleging that several private schools received undue advantages during AAP’s tenure through unofficial channels and policy manipulations.
Highlighting what he called the BJP-led government’s corrective measures, Sood said, “Due to the BJP-led government, children have received relief from legacy issues that have existed for the past five years.” He credited the current administration with breaking what he termed a “nexus” between private institutions and the previous AAP government.
