Mukesh Ambani and his family have once again emerged as India’s wealthiest, boasting a staggering net worth of Rs 9.55 lakh crore, according to the 14th edition of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, reported by The Economic Times.

Close on their heels are Gautam Adani and his family with Rs 8.15 lakh crore, underscoring the intense rivalry at the very top of India’s billionaire ladder.

The list also marked a historic entry for Roshni Nadar Malhotra, who became India’s richest woman with a net worth of Rs 2.84 lakh crore, highlighting the growing prominence of women entrepreneurs in the country.

Adding glamour to the billionaire club, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his debut with a net worth of Rs 12,490 crore, showing that fame and business success can go hand in hand. Meanwhile, young wealth creators like Aravind Srinivas, founder of Perplexity, became India’s youngest billionaire at just 31 years old, with Rs 21,190 crore in assets.

The report notes that India’s billionaire ecosystem is expanding rapidly. The total number of billionaires has now crossed 350, a sixfold increase since the list began 13 years ago. Together, their fortunes amount to Rs 167 lakh crore, nearly half of India’s GDP.

Niraj Bajaj and his family recorded the largest gain, adding Rs 69,875 crore to reach Rs 2.33 lakh crore, reflecting the dynamic nature of wealth creation across sectors.

Mumbai continues to lead in terms of billionaire concentration with 451 richest individuals, followed by New Delhi (223) and Bengaluru (116). Sector-wise, pharmaceuticals dominate with 137 entrants, followed by industrial products (132) and chemicals & petrochemicals (125).

The list highlights the rising influence of women entrepreneurs, with 101 women featuring in 2025, including 26 dollar billionaires. Self-made billionaires account for 66% of the list, while 74% of new entrants built their fortunes from scratch, underlining the enduring spirit of entrepreneurship in India.
