A preliminary investigation into the recent Pahalgam terror attack has revealed alarming links to Pakistan, with officials confirming that one of the key perpetrators was a Pakistani national and former military operative.
According to reports by The Times of India, the attacker has been identified as Hashim Musa, a former para commando of Pakistan’s elite Special Services Group (SSG). Intelligence sources cited by the publication revealed that Musa is now actively working with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Investigators believe Musa was specifically deployed to Jammu and Kashmir with the mission of targeting non-local civilians and security forces. His background in the Pakistani Army’s special forces, known for their expertise in covert missions and advanced weaponry, has raised serious concerns about the evolving nature of cross-border terrorism.
The probe further unraveled Musa’s connections through extensive interrogation of 15 Kashmiri overground workers (OGWs), who are suspected of providing critical logistical support to the terror module. Officials confirmed that these OGWs helped validate Musa’s identity and movements prior to the Pahalgam attack.
Alarmingly, Musa's name has surfaced in connection with earlier incidents as well. He is believed to have been involved in the October terror strikes at Gagangir and Buta Pathri. In the Gagangir attack in Ganderbal district, terrorists brutally murdered six non-local workers and a local doctor. The Buta Pathri assault, meanwhile, resulted in the deaths of two Indian Army personnel and two army porters.
