Continuing its momentum ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Jan Suraaj Party led by political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishor on Monday released its second list of candidates, featuring names for 65 assembly constituencies across the state.

The fresh list includes candidates for 19 reserved seats — 18 for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and one for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) — along with 46 general category seats. Emphasizing the party’s commitment to inclusive politics, Jan Suraaj highlighted that the new lineup represents a cross-section of Bihar’s diverse population.

According to the party, the list comprises 14 candidates from the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), 10 from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 11 from the general category, and 14 from the minority community. “We are committed to ensuring representation to every section of society in proportion to their population,” the party said in a statement.

True to its promise of providing opportunities to deserving Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates even on general seats, the Jan Suraaj Party has fielded an SC candidate from the Harnaut assembly constituency — a symbolic move that underscores its inclusive electoral strategy.

Earlier, on October 9, the party had announced its first list of 51 candidates, marking the beginning of its campaign rollout. With today’s announcement, the total number of declared candidates by Jan Suraaj has reached 116 — making it one of the first parties in the state to finalize its candidates for most constituencies.

While the NDA has concluded its seat-sharing arrangement — with BJP and JD(U) contesting 101 seats each, LJP (Ram Vilas) 29 seats, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) six seats each — the Mahagathbandhan is still in the process of finalizing its distribution.

The Election Commission of India on Monday also issued the official notification for the second phase of polling, as Bihar gears up for voting on November 6 and November 11, with results scheduled for November 14.
