In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday urged the central government to immediately initiate the creation of a National Register of Citizens (NRC) and deport all Pakistani nationals illegally residing in India.

VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain stated, "After India revoked all visas issued to Pakistani nationals following the Pahalgam terror attack, a large number of Pakistani nationals were found living in India for several years, with some allegedly even possessing Aadhaar and ration cards."

Jain stressed that these revelations posed a serious national security threat and demanded swift action. He further emphasized that the NRC should be implemented nationwide to identify and remove illegal immigrants, especially those originating from Pakistan.

The VHP’s statement comes amid a startling development in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, where election authorities have launched a probe after a Pakistani national claimed to have voted in India during his 17-year stay.

The man, Ussama Imtiyaz, was recently repatriated to Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. In a viral video, Imtiyaz allegedly confessed that he had been residing in India since 2008 after arriving on a visa, during which he reportedly obtained Aadhaar and other official documents, including a voter ID.

Authorities have ordered a detailed inquiry and registration of an FIR into the matter. A senior official said, “We are verifying the authenticity of the claims and how such a lapse could have occurred. The law will take its course."
