Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bihar government over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming the state is being run from Delhi through remote control.
Speaking to reporters after a heated session in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Today, we spoke on SIR in the Assembly. But who has been in power since 2005? Everyone knew what the discussion was going to be, yet the Chief Minister kept diverting the topic and speaking on unrelated matters.”
Tejashwi accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of losing control over the state’s governance. “The Chief Minister is no longer in a position to run the state effectively. The way the state is being run from Delhi on remote control is deeply troubling for democracy,” he added, taking a veiled dig at the BJP-led central government.
The Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in Bihar has triggered massive protests from opposition parties, who allege it is a politically motivated move aimed at manipulating the electoral rolls. Tensions have escalated with loud protests inside the Assembly and criticism that the process lacks transparency.
