Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Slams Opposition's Demand For Combined Debate: 'They Are Creating Chaos In The House'

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, accusing them of disrupting parliamentary proceedings despite previously agreed-upon discussions.

Addressing the House amid continued disruptions, Rijiju pointed out that there was a clear consensus in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to begin with a discussion on Operation Sindoor, and that the schedule and format had already been decided.

“It was discussed in the BAC that the first discussion would be on Operation Sindoor, and the time for that was also decided,” said Rijiju. “Now they (Opposition) want to discuss all the issues together — how is that even possible? Even they had agreed earlier and the time was already fixed. The rules for the discussion also have to be finalized.”

Rijiju criticised the Congress and its allies for not honouring the procedural decisions of the House and instead attempting to derail the discussions.

“The Congress party and some of their allies have been causing chaos for the past two days. I strongly condemn this behaviour,” he added.

The remarks came amid a noisy Lok Sabha session where Opposition MPs demanded simultaneous discussions on multiple national issues, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls and other governance concerns.
