BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, highlighting issues of corruption and apparent neglect of farmers.

Speaking to reporters, Prasad recounted a troubling incident involving a poor farmer from Kalaburagi, whose pea crop was destroyed in recent floods. According to Prasad, when the farmer approached Kharge to share his plight, the Congress leader allegedly dismissed his concerns, saying, “Why have you come here? Why are you pretending? You have 4 bigha, my 40 acres have been destroyed.”

Prasad added, “From this, one thing became clear – that Mallikarjun Kharge owns 40 acres of land in Kalaburagi. We came to know about this just yesterday. This shows the disconnect between Congress leadership and the real struggles of farmers.”

In a separate criticism, Prasad also condemned the Congress party for seeking political support from leaders with conviction in corruption cases, specifically targeting Lalu Prasad Yadav. He said, “The corruption case in which Lalu Prasad was found guilty had reached the Supreme Court. The Patna High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry, and the Supreme Court also directed that it be taken to a logical conclusion. If someone has been convicted, you still go to them seeking support, even though they are not even a voter.”

Prasad’s remarks underscore a broader BJP narrative of alleged Congress insensitivity towards farmers and moral compromise by seeking alliances with leaders previously convicted of corruption. The comments are likely to escalate political tensions as parties prepare for upcoming elections in key states.
