India on Tuesday strongly rejected Pakistan’s allegations linking New Delhi to the suicide bombing in Islamabad, terming them “baseless, unfounded, and part of a desperate attempt to deflect public attention.”
In a sharply worded statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “India unequivocally rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations being made by an obviously delirious Pakistani leadership.”
He further added, “It is a predictable tactic by Pakistan to concoct false narratives against India in order to deflect the attention of its own public from the ongoing military-inspired constitutional subversion and power-grab unfolding within the country.”
Jaiswal emphasized that the international community is fully aware of Pakistan’s attempts to mislead and will not fall for its “desperate diversionary ploys.”
The response came after Pakistan blamed India for a suicide attack near a court in Islamabad on Tuesday that killed at least 12 people and injured 36 others. Officials in Islamabad described the incident as a suicide blast, saying the attacker attempted to enter the court complex but detonated his explosives near a police vehicle after failing to do so.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as quoted by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), claimed that “these attacks are a continuation of India’s state-sponsored terrorism aimed at destabilising Pakistan.”
The MEA’s rebuttal follows heightened tensions between the two neighbours, particularly after a deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station a day earlier, which claimed 12 lives and left several injured.
