Amid growing political uproar over allegations of “vote chori” (vote theft), NCP–Sharad Chandra Pawar (SCP) leader Jitendra Awhad on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of undermining public faith in India’s democratic system.
Addressing reporters in Mumbai, Awhad said, “People now suspect that there is something wrong with the electoral process, and the Election Commission is responsible for that.” He claimed that widespread concerns about vote manipulation were being voiced across the political spectrum.
“Various political leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, and Aaditya Thackeray, are concerned about vote theft across the country, and the BJP is using it as a strategy to win elections,” Awhad alleged.
