Uddhav Thackeray Slams ‘Thief Minister’ Fadnavis, Unleashes Massive Maharashtra Protest Against Corrupt Mahayuti Ministers

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has launched a fierce attack on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, criticizing him for failing to take action against corrupt ministers despite enjoying a “monstrous majority” in the ruling Mahayuti coalition government.

Thackeray expressed deep disappointment and urged Fadnavis to stand firm against political pressure by demanding the resignation of tainted ministers. Echoing the Congress’s sharp criticism, he labeled Fadnavis a “Thief Minister” rather than a genuine Chief Minister.

The focus of Thackeray’s accusations is primarily on ministers from the Shiv Sena faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Several of these ministers have been embroiled in allegations of corruption and misconduct since the alliance came to power. According to Uddhav Sena, Maharashtra has become the “hub of corruption” under the current regime, singling out at least four Shinde ministers with questionable records.

This move is seen as a strategic attempt by Thackeray to increase pressure on Fadnavis, who finds himself caught between loyalty to the alliance and growing public outcry. It also highlights the ongoing tensions within the Mahayuti coalition, where disputes over power-sharing, bureaucratic clearances, and control over key administrative positions have led to speculation about a widening rift between Fadnavis and Shinde.

In a show of strength, the Uddhav Sena initiated the “Maharashtra Janakrosh Andolan,” a statewide protest campaign spearheaded by party leaders including Uddhav himself, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, and other senior members. The main demonstration was held at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park in Dadar, near the statue of Late Maasaheb Minatai Thackeray, demanding the removal of corrupt ministers from the government.

Apart from corruption, Uddhav Thackeray also raised concerns about the “suspicious resignation” of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, alleging that Dhankhar was forced to step down due to plans to oppose the central government and has since “disappeared.” Thackeray warned that India is on a dangerous path, risking a future where dissent is crushed as it happens in countries like China or Russia.
